Sharing Stories to Inspire Girls in STEM

Every woman who has chosen engineering has a story to tell. Unfortunately, all too often our next generation is not hearing their tales. Gender-interest stereotypes start to impact girls’ activity choices as early as 6 years old, severely impacting their likelihood of choosing a career in STEM.

What can we do today?

Read a book with your daughter, niece, or neighbor. Take a look at the latest list of Best STEM Books K-12 by the National Science Teaching Association. This year NSTA focused in on books that not only show the protagonists’ actions, but how they think and feel – aka “thinking stance”.
